Welcome to NCWE 2018
During past recent years, the numbers of building structural damage affected by extreme winds in Malaysia increased rapidly. It is because structural elements are not adequately designed for wind storm. Therefore, it is a must for a country like Malaysia to address issues related to wind disasters in design consideration. Besides, the earth tremor due to earthquake also become more frequent on Malaysia. Majority of the tremors originated from Sumatra Andaman and Philippines earthquakes. However, the June 2015 Ranau earthquake which occurred in Sabah became a strong evidence on why seismic design and retrofitting has to be considered in Malaysia. For this purpose, the NCWE 2018 will be co-hosted between Faculty of Civil Engineering & Earth Resources, UMP and Disaster Research Nexus, School of Civil Engineering, USM in Kuantan, Pahang on 17 & 18 August 2018. Top notch experts, researchers, engineers, and scientist are invited to present finding related to the wind and earthquake engineering fields
